Located one block off the Penn State campus in downtown State College, Titan Fitness/State College Martial Arts Academy has been the leader in MMA instruction for over 15 years. Instructor, Bruce Lombard, is the only certified MMA coach in Central PAunder the world renowned MMA fighting system, Combat Submission Wrestling. Combat Submission Wrestling(CSW) was founded by Mixed Martial Arts pioneer and former world champion, Erik Paulson.

One-on-one trainings are available with Mr. Lombard seven days a week at Titan Fitness. Training aims at exposing and elevating students levels for sport or self-defense in the full MMA game: boxing, Thai Boxing, submission grappling and wrestling. Students can also choose to only focus on one or two of these areas of the MMA game if they desire.

Personal training provides students with a more personal environment and hands on structure to reach their MMA/Self-Defense goals at a higher technical and progressed pace. This training option is for martial artists and athletes at any level of experience.

This strong tradition of producing effective Muay Thai practioners at the Titan Fitness facility started back in 1993 under the guidance of world class martial athlete, Sifu Bill Gebhardt, founder and owner of the State College Martial Arts Academy.

On Bill Gebhardt’s sudden death to Cancer in 2002, student and long time friend, Bruce Lombard, aimed to continue the legacy and tradition that Mr. Gebhardt left behind.

Hundreds of men and women of all ages continue to benefit from the highly effective and practical art of Muay Thai kickboxing at Titan Fitness as they did with Mr. Gebhardt in the 90’s and early 2000’s.

Titan Fitness continues’ the tradition of SCMMA to be the leader in the Central Pa and Penn State region for developing successful Muay Thai competitor’s. SCMMA and Titan Fitness have had over 25 amateur Muay Thai competitive fighters’ in the last 15 years with a collective winning perscentage over 75%.

On June 28, 2008, Titan Fitness MMA fighters, Mike Putnam and Tyler Higgins, competed at Jack’s Gym in Newark, DE.

Mike Putnam not only ‘Ground and Pound’ his opponent en route to a TKO victory, he was also awarded “Fighter of the Night” by the event Promoter. Mike raised his MMA record to 2-0 against another quality fighter. Mike’s opponent this time around was another unbeaten MMA competitor, as well as, an accomplished amateur kickboxer with over 30 victory’s on his career record.

Mike dominated his opponent with multiple takedowns and an impressive ground position control and striking, which led to his broken down opponent’s tap out in the second round.

Tyler Higgins battled against a veteran MMA opponent in what became the most exciting fight of the night. Tyler nearly choked out his opponent just one minute into the first round, and then nearly finished a leg submission attempt in the last 30 seconds of the third round. A credit is to be given to the grappling skills of his opponent just to get out of the submission attempts! Between these two points, the two fighters traded strikes in an exciting back and forth slugfest. Tyler got caught in a few takedowns which seem to determine the narrow victory for the skilled opponent who remained unbeaten.
