State College(Titan Fitness) MMA Fighter’s Compete in Newark, Deleware
On June 28, 2008, Titan Fitness MMA fighters, Mike Putnam and Tyler Higgins, competed at Jack’s Gym in Newark, DE.
Mike Putnam not only ‘Ground and Pound’ his opponent en route to a TKO victory, he was also awarded “Fighter of the Night” by the event Promoter. Mike raised his MMA record to 2-0 against another quality fighter. Mike’s opponent this time around was another unbeaten MMA competitor, as well as, an accomplished amateur kickboxer with over 30 victory’s on his career record.
Mike dominated his opponent with multiple takedowns and an impressive ground position control and striking, which led to his broken down opponent’s tap out in the second round.
Tyler Higgins battled against a veteran MMA opponent in what became the most exciting fight of the night. Tyler nearly choked out his opponent just one minute into the first round, and then nearly finished a leg submission attempt in the last 30 seconds of the third round. A credit is to be given to the grappling skills of his opponent just to get out of the submission attempts! Between these two points, the two fighters traded strikes in an exciting back and forth slugfest. Tyler got caught in a few takedowns which seem to determine the narrow victory for the skilled opponent who remained unbeaten.
