“I make going to Titan Fitness part of my weekly routine because the
workouts are awesome and the atmosphere keeps me energized and wanting to
come back for more.”
‹Emma Vautour

“I signed up for MMA to have fun, but found that the lessons learned in
class now carry over into my life. Not only have I become more physically
fit, but I have also found that the discipline and respect taught on the
mats make me a better college student and a better person.”
‹Derek Janssen

“Prior to training with Mr. Lombard, I had a hard time motivating myself to
stay in shape. But the enjoyment I get from my martial arts training has
made it impossible to stay away.”
‹Shawn Slater

“Martial Arts training is about more than fighting. Mr. Lombard is very
knowledgeable and capable of training individuals in anything from Thai
boxing, to MMA, to Submission Grappling. Even if you are not looking to
compete, I have found that martial arts training offers excellent health
benefits, like fitness and stress relief.”
‹Shawn Slater

“Kickboxing has not only helped me physically, but has also boosted my self
confidence
. It is tough, and when I feel like quitting I look back at what
I have accomplished up to this point and wonder how much more I can condition
my body by sticking with it.”
‹Sobrina Wolff

“I never was a physically active person but now I find myself making sure I
fit kickboxing in my schedule between work and school. It is like having a
personal trainer. Bruce is there to motivate and push me to learn the
techniques. I leave with a sense of accomplishment.”
‹Sobrina Wolff

“I was looking for a different type of workout. Physically, kickboxing is
intense and keeps me in great shape. But I am not just working out. I am also
learning to defend myself, and making great friends.”
‹Nicole Weatherholtz

“I began attending Titan Fitness almost three years ago.  I began as a
student with no prior martial arts knowledge whatsoever.  I weighed about
145 lbs and was initially just looking for a way to get back into shape
after having a baby.  I now weigh in at about 125 lbs and am in the best
shape I have ever been.”
‹Allison Glenny

“I am on the brink of my first amateur fight, and I am amazed by the progress
I have made through the efforts of my teachers and my training partners. Not
only are these the people that I work out with, but they have become some of
my closest friends.”
‹Allison Glenny

“I love kickboxing because it always pushes me to my limits, and I always
leave class feeling accomplished.”
‹Nicole Cardell

Quinton Jackson vs. Keith Jardine Breakdown
Posted on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in UFC News

YouTube Preview Image

Overview -Both fighters coming off big wins, Jardine won a decision against Brandon Vera, and Jackson knocked out Wanderlei Silva.  Each fighter’s confidence should be strong going in.  Jackson is favored and awaits a title shot against Rashad Evans with a victory.  Jardine is used to the underdog role.  Both just recently fought Wanderlei Silva, Jackson knocked him out, while Jardine got knocked out himself in just 30 seconds of the first round.  This leads many to believe Jackson will win.  In this sport, previous results are less important at this highest level.  This sport has proven over and over that on any given night any fighter can be beaten.

Jardine Outlook -Any fighter coming out of Greg Jackson’s gym has proven to be very well prepared.  I look for Jardine to work his strong leg kicks as he did so effectively against Chuck Liddell and as Forrest Griffin did against Jackson in their title fight last fall.  Though when anyone kicks they are vulnerable to that quick counter punch knock out, as Jardine received from Wanderlei.  This will be a stand up battle and if Jardine can push the fight into the third he might be able to outlast Jackson for a close split decision.

Jackson Outlook - Jackson is not easy to rattle once he is in the cage.  Jardine’s odd fighting style will not get to him as it might have Chuck and Forrest in their loses to Keith.   ’Rampage ’ has a tremendous chin and a no quit mentality so I do not see Jardine Knocking him out.  Jackson is a heavy puncher with always improving boxing skills.  Quinton will remain patient and look for that opening for the big knockout.

Prediction -These two will stand up the duration of the fight.  It will be a crowd pleaser with Jackson connecting midway through the second round with one of his powerful hooks and put Jardine to the canvas.  Look for ‘Rampage’ to jump on Jardine and finish him with ground and pound for the TKO victory.

Scarf Hold (Kesa Getami)
Posted on Friday, February 13, 2009 in Techniques

Overview: A very dominant, top, crossbody position that is effective for controlling, submitting, or striking.

Advantages: This top position provides effective body control of your opponent, multiple submission opportunities, various arm traps for high percentage striking. It is a very difficult position for the bottom person to escape from.

Disadvantages: Very challenging for person on their back to create space and execute an effective escape. There are not many disadvantages to this dominant position.

Transitions: Such a dominant position that—if possible—I would typically recommend maintaining it. However, one can transition to side mount, which can lead to fluid transitions to other dominant top positions such as: north/south, knee on belly, or mount.

Submissions: Keylocks, neck cranks, armbars, and chokes are the most common submissions from this position. Combat Submission Wrestling creator, Erik Paulson, demonstrates a key lock chain in Video 1, and a neck crank in Video 2.

Striking: Various traps of your opponent arms via your own legs or arms are available for the taking.  This opens up devastating striking options to bottom persons head. Common strikes from here can include: elbow high downward punches, hammer fists, reverse hammer fists, snip elbows, and downward/vertical elbows.

Conclusion: Scarf Hold/ Kesa Getami is an extremely effective and dominant top position For controlling, submitting, and striking your opponent.  High percentage results for submission grappling or MMA competition.
