MMAFx is a mixed martial arts/football cross training system.
The MMAFx system was created by Coach Lombard in 2011. Coach Lombard has utilized his over twenty years of martial arts experience to develop one of the most modern and innovative cross training programs for football athletes at the highest level. This “Mixed Martial Arts/Football Cross Training” (MMAFx) system is the most comprehensive of its kind. The program includes movements, techniques, and skills from multiple combat sports, and traditional martial arts that are similar to those used in football competition. Coach Lombard has developed numerous skill and conditioning focused drills incorporating techniques from Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai, and Wing Chun that fulfill this program. The goals of MMAFx are to develop and/or increase the level of a football competitor’s hand speed, arm trapping ability, agility, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, muscle endurance, balance, body leverage control, and punching power. Individual Athlete Conditioning
Football athletes will train individually or in small groups with Coach Lombard developing and increasing their level of hand speed, foot agility, flexibility, punching power, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, and body leverage. Each athlete will cross train in three areas under the MMA umbrella, these include the sports of boxing, Muay Thai, and wrestling.
Defensive Line and Linebacker position athletes will enhance there pass rushing and run stopping success by learning and developing arm trapping and arm manipulating techniques through the martial arts of Wing Chun, Muay Thai, and wrestling. Athletes will also train multiple hand speed drills to increase their hand coordination, timing and precision.
Strength & Conditioning Coaches will learn and train the MMAFx Program in order to bring an alternative, high intensity, and sport specific workout to a large group of football athletes. Coaches will develop basic knowledge and skills to help communicate the MMAFx template of techniques and drills for the conditioning of their athletes.
